School readiness describes whether a child can take part in a classroom day: sit with a group for a while, follow two instructions in a row, manage the toilet, ask an adult for help, part from a parent without falling apart. Notice what is not on that list. It is not letters, numbers or writing. A child who arrives able to read but unable to ask for help is not the ready one.
We do not test for readiness at admission. We write a settling-in plan with you in the first week and adjust it as we go.
