Storytelling pedagogy treats the story as an instrument rather than an interlude. A story carries vocabulary a child would not otherwise meet, in a structure — first, then, because, at last — that is the same structure thinking uses. It teaches sequence, cause, other people's insides, and how a sentence is supposed to sound. It is also almost the only teaching method that works identically in three languages.
Hindi and English are taught here through talk and story rather than through copying. Bengali stories are told alongside them, not instead of them.
