Panchakosha Vikas is the developmental frame the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage borrows from Indian tradition: five sheaths, or koshas, each a layer of a growing person. Physical development, life-energy, the emotional and mental, the intellectual, and the spiritual or values layer. Its usefulness is not mystical. It is a checklist that refuses to let a school report on a child's alphabet and call that a report on the child.
